Have you ever wondered how Roy’s Movie Player was made?
If your answer was yes your not alone, Jim Martin has been asked this question many times over the years and has posted an explanation on who designed and what was used in its construction on the Official Great Space Coaster Facebook page.
Eoin Sprott and his talented team of artists designed and fabricated not only this prop, …but all of the props for The Great Space Coaster as well as the set design. Like most prop-makers, Eoin often used whatever was available at hand as the basis for his creations in order to keep the production on time and on budget. In the case of Roy’s device, he used a Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera. In this photo, you can compare what the SX-70 looked like before he heavily modified it to become Roy’s viewer.
